Race one of British Columbia’s most iconic long distance events on May 24, 2026 at IRONMAN 70.3 Victoria. Set on Vancouver Island at Elk Lake Regional Park, this premier half distance triathlon attracts athletes from across Canada and beyond. The course combines a calm freshwater swim, a rolling and scenic bike ride through coastal and forested roads, and a flat, fast run around the lake on shaded trails. Known for its strong community support, world class race production, and stunning natural surroundings, IRONMAN 70.3 Victoria is an ideal early season target for athletes chasing a personal best or a memorable race experience.
Hummingbird’s very own Luke Tasker won the event in 2024. Here’s his quick take on the course:
-
A single-loop swim in Elk Lake’s cold, clear waters. Smooth conditions, easy navigation, and a short run to the grassy transition zone make it a fast and efficient start.
-
A 90 km rolling course featuring scenic forest and coastal roads, with some punchy climbs. Watch for slick conditions in rain and stay alert at intersections. The Willis Point climb near the end is a rewarding challenge.
-
Two laps around Elk Lake on hard-packed gravel with rolling hills and occasional slippery sections. Aid stations and enthusiastic spectators keep spirits high.
-
Rain or shine, the course showcases British Columbia’s natural beauty, supported by top-notch volunteers and a vibrant race-day energy.
